Reading a blog post at 43 folders recently, I came across this sentence:
Good blogs reflect focused obsessions
Two things that I’ve obsessed about over the past few years are my kids and taking great pictures of them. They are just so stinkin’ cute that I want to preserve every smile, expression and antic.
My obsession with my kids is definitely focused, but my obsession with photography, well, not so much. I take lots and lots of pictures, hope one or two come out well, and play with them in Photoshop until they look a bit better.
Not only was I lacking the know-how to use my camera well, but I also never had time to sift through all the Photoshop info out there to learn how to use it for my needs. And most of all, I needed inspiration about what great shots and great processing look like.
Over the past few months, I’ve stumbled upon a few resources that have taught me so much. My obsession is focusing (as are my shots!) and I am learning to to take pictures that I love consistently. And to cement my learning process, I’m going to document it in this blog.
It will be a diary of my progress, discoveries and tips & tricks that I come across. There’s no better way to learn than to explain to others, and I hope that my experience will be a short cut to other moms in their journeys to becoming great photographers!
