UV filters are must! This should be the first purchase right behind the camera/lens themselves. I just purchased a Canon-EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens
along with a UV filter and polarizing lens filter. Unfortunately, the place where I purchased these items felt it was more important to ship the lens seperate from the filters, just to save a little money. The lens arrived within a few days, but the filters were shipped via the USPS, which we all know doesn't get in any hurry. Long story short, I was so excited about my new lens, but refused to use it until I had those filters. Too much money to risk taking a chance of damage, so I waited for the filters. Filters are much cheaper to replace than an expensive lens.

Hi Shay,

It didn't take me to learn to learn this Olympus model. I'm pretty sure that Olympus has released a newer version by now, so I wouldn't recommend buying the same exact one that I have. I'm not sure if you are asking about a specific kind of jumping (toddler, horse, etc?) but just about any DSLR will be faster than a point and shoot.

Thank you for visiting my blog!

I have been looking at this camera now that you've mentioned it on here. And I like what I see. Although I'm not completely camera savvy and it will probably take me a while to figure out all the actions and such. I just want to know if it is pretty easy to understand after awhile and if it takes pictures fast enough to capture jumping?

extra flash?
I LOVE MINE!!!
I bought it about two years ago, got frustrated with it and put it in the cupboard until now. I have been reading a lot of online tips and info on using my flash and I have grown to absolutely LOVE it!!!! You can bounce it all around you instead of straight on to avoid nasty shadows, you can improve indoor shots immensely and I am learning to love it outdoors as a fill flash too!!
My next goal is to learn to use it off camera on a tripod for extra lighting :) FUN!!!
Great post!

I, too, finally got a Canon Rebel XS (used money that was a graduation gift) and I am so glad I did. I got a wonderful deal on a camera and lens kit at BHphotovideo (out of NY I think)....another great tip from a photography blog. Thanks for putting the info out there for us all, we appreciate it!

also...I looked at that camera first...cause I had seen some awesome stop motion of dogs (BC) flying in mid air while catching Frisbee's...I wish now I had gotten it. I don't remember why, was probably the money.
