Those of you who read Digital Photography for Moms regularly know that I am a big fan of Mozy Online Backup. My photos and photo projects have too much time and love in them to risk ever losing them again.
It seems like Mozy is almost always offering a 10% discount on their backup packages, but for the month of June, you can get a 15% discount. I’ve never seen this offer before!
To take advantage of this 15% discount, click on the link above and enter code JUNE15 at checkout.
This means that you can purchase two full years of unlimited backup for less than $90! That really is a great deal. Especially when you consider that you are saving not just photos but everything on your computer!
And, as always with Mozy, if you’d like to try before you buy, you can get 2GB Totally Free Online Backup! Compliments of Mozy.
I’ll repeat the same caveat I always do regarding affordable unlimited home data backup. Your first backup is going to be slow. Not quite as slow as Christmas, but it just might seem like it. After that first time, however, your incremental backups will be quick. And you’ll feel good knowing you’ve finally silenced that nagging voice in your head reminding you to backup!

I have been trying to figure out whether or not I should get another external hard drive or use one of these backup companies. I am totally confused by them. I have over 300 gigs of photos and I am wondering if they back up that much data? I am assuming you have a ton of gigs in photos and such, do you pay a large fee to back this info up or just their standard fee?
Hi Wendy.
I just pay the standard fee. Mozy truly is unlimited. I didn’t go with an external hard drive because it could fail, the house could burn down, etc. Paranoid, I know.
I have just under 300 gigs backed up to Mozy right now. Your initial backup will take forever. Weeks. I would suggest breaking it down into chunks.
The good thing is that you can allocate how much memory your computer allocates to your backup, in case your running Photoshop or another intensive application.
And, after that initial backup, things will run smoothly and much more quickly from then on.
